Sports@Alice

We are not only a lovely lovely park for kids and dog walkers, oh no matey boy.  For the active – or indeed, semi active – amongst you, we have a true plethora of various activities for you to get involved in!

Tennis

First up, we have the tennis courts, six of them.  You can book a court here at the cafe, or send us an email tony@aliceparkB.co.uk, phone up on 01225 465613 or generally just turn up and play.  Only in the very busy times in the middle of summer will there be occasions you have to wait!

Timings – The courts are generally open when we are, which is roughly 9.30 to 5.30, every day of the week.  We will of course open them up earlier or later – all you need to do is drop us an email at the usual address.  That’s tony@alicepark.co.uk, just click the box at the bottom of the page.

Booking Times – You can book any time you want – from just half an hour, right through to all day!  It’s £4 for half an hour, £5 for an hour, and £6 for an hour and a half.  Any longer times are booked at the cheapest combination for you.

Advance Bookings – we always recommend booking the courts a few days in advance if you can; however, as we say experience tells us that even in the height of summer holidays you will usually never need to wait more than an hour to play.  Bookings will always secure your slot though!

Coaching – we also have a very handsome young tennis coach – Jamie.  He offers camps, group sessions, one2one’s, and all manner of tennis related activities.  To make sure you get told all the info, make sure you sign up to the members bit on the right.  Even better, why not get in touch with Jamie yourself?  Ask him what he is up to, and I am sure he can fit you in.  A talented young man, we are delighted he is on the team.  You can call him on 07825 198 810, or email him tennis.alicepark@gmail.com.  Perfect for Easter and summer camps!

Teams – if you are of a decent standard, then I am sure that Mike (good dj too!) would be pleased to hear from you.  We are hosts to the Iconoclasts, a decent team who play in the Chippenham District league.  They play here on Thursdays and Sundays,

Fancy a competitive game yourself?  Then you should join

What else?  Well, we do have our own football team, Alice Park Rangers – how cool is that?  You can find out more about them here, but we are always looking for dedicated players of all abilities.  They play in the Bath Sunday League, so it’s adults only, however we are looking to start a youth development team that will be affiliated with APR.  Any takers?  They train at St Marks on a Friday evening, and play on Sundays.  And after the match, we all meet up here at the Park for a beer and a debrief – so get involved!

Saturday mornings are great for both football and rugby.  We have the Larkhall Athletic youth team playing here on alternate Saturdays, and since March 2012 we have hosted the wonderful Ruggerbeez – rugby especially for 2-7 year olds.  Hopefully by summer 2012 we will be doing a midweek after school club with Ruggerbeez, so again register here on the site to get more info, or just pop down the park on a Saturday morning and join in!

Slightly less physically demanding is the Boules piste.  Yep, we have got one, and we are looking to start our own Boules team, so if anyone is up for it, then let me know.  Currently, there are summer games on a Wednesday evening, but this is likely to change, so, as with everything else, best to register here on the site and get the emails that will tell you what we are up to – oh, and keep checking back on the site as I will stick up stuff when I know about it.
